Lumbar Spine
The lumbar spine is located between the thoracic spine and the sacrum in the lower back region. It consists of five large vertebrae named L1 to L5, along with intervertebral discs, muscles, ligaments, and nerves. The lumbar spine plays a major role in supporting the upper body, maintaining posture, and allowing movements such as bending, twisting, and lifting. It also protects important spinal nerves that control sensation and movement in the lower body. Common lumbar spine conditions include lower back pain, slipped discs, sciatica, and spinal stenosis.
